Us Aussies only know of Christmas in the summertime, usually it’s a ridiculously hot day filled with prawns and turkey and cold summer drinks all the while the northern hemisphere are celebrating white christmases filled with snow and egg-nog, sadly something we don’t ever get to experience.
However, one cold, slightly snowy night in the Blue Mountains, a group of Irish folk reminisced about their winters during Christmas, they came up with the idea to celebrate how they are used to celebrating in winter and that’s how Yulefest, Christmas in July was created.
Yulefest is now a beautiful tradition celebrated throughout the Blue Mountains in the month of July. There is nothing quite snuggling up against the fire with some mulled wine after an amazing Christmas inspired meal with all the trimmings. This celebration really allows us Aussies to experience what a winter Christmas (sometimes white Christmas!) is all about.
One of the best places to experience it is at the amazing One&Only Wolgan Valley in the Blue Mountains. The whole resort becomes alive with Christmas cheer and what is even better is that they have their world class chefs create the most amazing Yulefest meals. (there is nothing quite like celebrating Yulefest in the mountains!) If you are worried about the cold, don’t stress they are fully equipped to handle the cold and make sure you have a an amazing experience. There are not just one, but two, (yes two!) fireplaces in each villa (including heating) as well as fireplaces scattered throughout the other parts of the resort.
If you’re thinking of going for a visit, don’t put it off, it is seriously the perfect place to simply switch off and enjoy the majestic Blue Mountains and what it has to offer. (They also do amazing weddings there too!)
The girls from Wild Blue Studio did the amazing styling for the resort, including the most beautiful wreath for their front door……. so much love!
Let me know what you think, I would love to hear from you! 🙂
